Everyone knows that diamonds shouldn't be bought casually; there are too many pitfalls for consumers who have never received any diamond-related education. The best way to avoid the risks of buying diamonds is to familiarize yourself with and understand this stone. Of course, you can't expect ordinary consumers to make the same judgments as experienced diamond appraisers, but the tips shared today can help you learn how to assess the overall quality of a diamond.

Before that, if you're considering buying a diamond, ask yourself a few questions:

1. Is the color of this diamond to your liking?

2. Is the shape of this diamond what you want?

3. Does this diamond have any attractive features?

4. Will seeing this diamond evoke excitement or other emotions in you?

If the answers to all of these questions are correct, then you should prepare to have the diamond examined more carefully.

1. Water Drop Test (Simplest, won't damage the diamond)

Place a drop of water on the diamond's table. A real diamond's surface is hydrophobic, so the water droplet will bead up and not easily spread out; imitation diamonds (such as zircon or glass) are highly hydrophilic, so the water droplet will easily flatten.

2. Transparency Test (Observe fire and refraction)

Place the diamond table-down over printed text. A real diamond has extremely strong refraction, usually making the text underneath unclear; imitation diamonds have good light transmission, often allowing you to clearly see the lines. Note: Fancy-shaped diamonds and poorly cut diamonds may also show text, so this cannot be used as a sole criterion for judgment.

3. Fog Test (Thermal Conductivity Test)

Breath on the diamond. A real diamond conducts heat quickly, and the fog will dissipate within 1-2 seconds; imitation diamonds dissipate heat slowly, and the fog will linger longer.

4. Magnifying Glass Self-Inspection (10x Magnification Most Practical)

Use your phone's macro function or a 10x magnifying glass to examine:

· Genuine diamonds have sharp, clean, and sharp edges.

· Imitation diamonds usually have rounded, worn edges.

· Genuine diamonds often have natural inclusions; be wary of perfectly flawless diamonds.

· The girdle often has GIA/IGI laser engraving, which is important proof.

5. The Most Reliable Ultimate Method

All home tests can only be used as supplementary references and cannot provide 100% confirmation. There are only three truly authoritative methods:

1. Authoritative certificates: GIA / IGI / NGTC

2. Professional testing institutions (local jewelry testing centers)

3. Thermal conductivity meter / spectrometer (commonly used by merchants, not recommended for personal use).

In general, if you are an ordinary buyer, you can perform basic self-inspections without professional equipment, using water droplets, fogging, translucency, and a magnifying glass. But remember: no method, whether visual or home-based, can replace a certificate and professional testing. When buying diamonds, check the certificate first, then the quality.

Foshan Highlight Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. has been deeply involved in the CVD-grown diamond field for many years. Leveraging its mature core technologies and differentiated process layout, it has achieved full-dimensional coverage of white diamond products. All of the company's white diamond products are pure carbon crystals with a hardness of 10. Their physical and chemical properties are completely consistent with natural white diamonds, placing them firmly in the category of genuine diamonds.

Significant core technological advantages: Relying on a stable and controllable cultivation environment, it can produce high-color diamonds ranging from D to F, with clarity generally reaching VS1 or higher standards. They are virtually flawless to the naked eye, and their fire and brilliance rival top-grade natural white diamonds.

Our product highlights: Standardized grading standards, transparent and controllable selection: Strictly adhering to the international diamond grading system, key parameters such as color (D-J), clarity (SI1-VVS1), cut (EX-VG), and carat weight are clearly marked. Products come with authoritative IGI testing certificates, supporting full traceability and verification.

Green and sustainable development, fulfilling social responsibility: The cultivation process requires no extraction of earth's crustal resources, avoiding the environmental damage caused by natural diamond mining from the source. It is a superior choice that combines aesthetic value with environmental protection.

High cost-performance advantage, breaking down market price barriers: Compared to natural white diamonds, our CVD white diamonds are significantly more competitive in price. Within the same budget, consumers can choose larger carat or higher quality products, helping them easily achieve “real diamond freedom.”
